This is a roundup of news and other interesting pieces that I’ve come across over the last few days. Read about MSC Cruises from Brooklyn, Etihad will reintroduce four of its A380s, new guitar shapes hotel in Vegas, China Eastern gets world’s first C919, and overcrowding issues in Italy.
Etihad Airways Will Bring Back Four Airbus A380s
The Airbus A380 is the largest passenger airliner in the world. However, Airbus stopped production of the four-engine jumbo jet at the end of 2021 due to low demand from carriers.
The A380 is only profitable with a high load factor, and only the world’s largest airports have facilities to handle it. But at least one airline is making a U-turn and adding the aircraft back to its fleet.
Etihad Airways has said that it will reintroduce four of its A380s starting from the summer of 2023 to meet the surge in travel demand. They will operate between Abu Dhabi and London.

MSC Cruises Launching New Service from Brooklyn
MSC Cruises, which is part of the Geneva, Switzerland-based Cruise Division of MSC Group, chose New York for MSC Seascape’s Naming Ceremony to celebrate the brand’s growing commitment to the U.S. market and upcoming launch of service from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, which will result in local job creation with MSC Meraviglia operating year-round on a variety of itineraries covering Florida, The Bahamas, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, and New England.
Hard Rock unveils more renderings for redesign of Mirage on Las Vegas Strip
The company has detailed its plans for the property once the sale is complete, including the construction of a new guitar-shaped hotel tower and the closure of the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat.
Executives told board members Wednesday that once complete, the redesigned Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Las Vegas would feature nearly 600 more hotel rooms, more than double the number of slot machines and four times the number of table games.

The world’s first C919 aircraft, with registration number of B-919A, was delivered to China Eastern Airlines (CEA).
The C919 is China’s first homegrown large passenger aircraft in accordance with international airworthiness standards, manufactured by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC). It is a new competitor for two of the most popular passenger models, Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
Italy implements one-way foot traffic in ‘dangerously’ overtouristed street
Via San Gregorio Armeno, in Naples, has always been one of the most popular spots for visitors. For centuries, artisans have made presepi, or Nativity scenes here, and the narrow street has displays on either side of not just presepi but also other figurines, plus figures of footballers and even politicians.
