Benefits

  1. 100k offer: Earn 100,000 Choice Privileges points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months from account opening. This is the best offer on this card.
  2. We estimate that Choice Privileges points are worth about 0.6 cents/point. So the 100k highest sign-up bonus is worth about $600.
  3. Earn 10x Choice Privileges points at Choice hotels. Earn 5x points on gas stations, grocery stores, home improvement stores, and on phone plans from landline and cell phone providers. And 1x on everything else.
  4. Receive 20 elite night credits qualifying for at least Platinum level status each calendar year.
  5. Earn 30,000 bonus points every account anniversary.
  6. $100 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck reimbursement.
  7. Get up to $800 of cell phone protection against damage, theft, or unintended separation.
  8. No foreign transaction fee.

Disadvantages

  1. Annual fee $95, NOT waived for the first year.

Summary

Choice hotels are relatively low-tier in the US, we generally recommend paying attention to Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton points and cards. But if you are really interested in Choice hotels, this card is worth considering. This card gives you 30k points which are worth more than the annual fee if you actually need to stay in Choice hotels. If you don’t want to pay the annual fee any more, you can consider downgrading it to the no fee card Wells Fargo Choice Privileges. BTW, apart from this credit card, you can also obtain Choice points from Citi TYP with 1:2 transfer ratio.

Choice hotels are strong in Europe and Japan, so if you have travel plans there, you can pay some attention to Choice hotels.
